Commentia v1.2 Released!

This article is over a year old and may contain outdated information.

I recently got a few emails from individuals about by Commentia script. They suggested that I add a settings system for the Behavior that loads on setup() (didn't know about this with the lack of documentation). Well to say the least I took their advice and redid the script so you don't have to manually edit the file, you just define the settings in the model. The documentation has been updated to reflect this change.

  • Just thought I'd post a comment to state that I highly recommend this CakePHP behaviour.

I am using it in my own website ( and whilst I do not receive many legitimate comments, I am happy to report that of the various automated spam attempts there have been, only one has managed to get automatic approval.

Also, all of the genuine comments that have been added have been auto-approved.

I have included this module in a basic CakePHP based CMS that a few people are using and have setup a cronjob running a shell to periodically report to the CMS admins that comments exist that need approval. For more info read
